My Luggie Dealer Closed Down. What Happens Now?

When a company you rely on suddenly ceases trading, it is completely natural to feel left in the dark. As many of you are now discovering while trying to book your annual spring services, Local Mobility UK Limited—which traded under the names Luggie Scooters and Luggie UK—unfortunately went into liquidation in the summer of 2025.
Over the past year, our phones at MLV Mobility have been ringing with understandably worried customers asking the same questions: “Who will service my scooter? What happens if it breaks? What happens to my lifetime warranty?”
First and foremost: Please do not panic.
Your scooter is not obsolete, and you have not been left without support. As an independent, Officially Approved Freerider Dealer, MLV Mobility is fully authorised to step in and look after you and your Luggie. Here is everything you need to know moving forward.
The Warranty Situation: Standard vs. "Lifetime"
This is the most common—and unfortunately, the most difficult—question we receive. We want to be completely honest and transparent about exactly where you stand regarding your warranty following the summer 2025 closure.
The Bad News: "Lifetime" Warranties Are No Longer Valid
We know that many customers purchased a "Lifetime Warranty" or an extended service plan directly from Local Mobility / Luggie UK. We are incredibly sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but because Local Mobility was liquidated, these specific lifetime agreements are no longer valid.
These extended warranties were private contracts between you and Local Mobility. They were not underwritten by the manufacturer (Freerider). As a completely separate, independent business, MLV Mobility cannot legally or financially honour guarantees made by a closed competitor.
(If you purchased your scooter on a credit card shortly before they closed in 2025, you may still be able to contact your card provider to discuss your options regarding Section 75 protection).
The Good News: Your Manufacturer’s Warranty is Safe
While the lifetime warranty is void, your standard manufacturer’s warranty is held directly with Freerider, the company that builds the Luggie. The closure of Local Mobility does not void this core agreement.
If your scooter is still within its original standard manufacturer warranty period and suffers a covered fault, MLV Mobility is fully authorised to step in. We can process the claim on your behalf and carry out the necessary repairs to ensure your investment remains protected.
Where Can I Get My Luggie Serviced or Repaired?
Even if you are now completely out of warranty, you are not stranded. Mobility scooters, much like cars, need regular servicing to stay safe and reliable. Whether you are due for your annual service, need a minor repair, or have a more complex mechanical issue, MLV Mobility offers transparent, fairly priced maintenance.
Our engineers know the entire Freerider Luggie range inside and out. From the standard Eco models to the heavy-duty Super models, we have the diagnostic tools and expertise to keep you moving safely without charging exorbitant fees.

Can I Still Buy Genuine Luggie Parts and Batteries?
Yes. Because we deal directly with the manufacturer, we have access to the complete catalogue of official Freerider and Luggie spare parts.
Whether you need a replacement lithium battery for your next cruise, a new set of tyres, or just a replacement charger, we can supply and fit genuine, approved components. Please avoid buying cheap, third-party parts online, as these can be unsafe and will invalidate any remaining manufacturer warranty.
I Was Planning to Buy a Luggie. Where Do I Go Now?
If you were researching the Luggie range and are now unsure where to buy safely, MLV Mobility is here to help. We are the premier destination for Luggie sales in England and Wales.
We do things a little differently. We aren't just "box-shifters." Buying a travel scooter is a big decision, which is why we offer Free, No-Obligation Home Demonstrations. Anthony, Casey, or one of our national team members will bring the scooters directly to your driveway so you can try them out in your own environment, completely pressure-free.
We Are Here for the Luggie Community
The sudden closure of a long-standing business is unsettling, and losing a promised lifetime warranty is incredibly frustrating. We truly understand that. We want to reassure the Luggie community that despite this bump in the road, you are in very safe hands.
If you have any questions about your scooter, want to check if your standard warranty is still active, or if you just need a repair quote from a team you can trust, please don't hesitate to reach out.
