Find Your Perfect Mobility Scooter
Choosing the right mobility scooter is the first step towards regaining your independence, but with so many options, it can be hard to know where to start. This guide will walk you through the three main types of mobility scooters—Travel, Pavement, and Road Legal—to help you find the perfect match for your lifestyle and needs.

Travel & Folding Scooters: For Ultimate Portability
What Are They?
Travel and folding scooters are designed to be as lightweight and portable as possible. They either fold down into a single compact unit or disassemble easily into a few manageable pieces, making them perfect for lifting into a car boot.
Best for:
Frequent car travel, holidays abroad, cruise ships, and easy storage in your home. They are ideal for trips to shopping centres, garden centres, or visiting family and friends.
Limitations:
They are designed for smooth surfaces like pavements and indoor floors. With smaller batteries and frames, they have a shorter range and are not suitable for use on the road.
Pavement Scooters: The Daily Shopper
What Are They?
Often called the 'perfect daily shopper', pavement scooters are a popular choice for a reason. They offer a fantastic balance of comfort, features, and maneuverability, making them ideal for your regular trips to the shops. More robust than travel scooters, they often come with added comforts like suspension and more supportive seats to handle daily use with ease.
Best for:
Regaining independence around your local area. They are perfect for trips to the local shops, visiting friends, or navigating the pavements of town centres with confidence and in comfort.
Limitations:
As Class 2 vehicles, they are limited to a top speed of 4mph and are not permitted for use on the road (except where there is no pavement).

Road Legal Scooters: For Ultimate Freedom & Performance
What Are They?
Road legal (Class 3) scooters are the largest and most capable models available. They feature top speeds of up to 8mph (switchable to 4mph for pavements), typically suspension, full lighting packages (including headlights, indicators, and brake lights), and larger batteries for a much greater travel range.
Best for:
Longer journeys, travelling between villages, and for users who need the ultimate in comfort, power, and performance. They are the only scooters legally allowed for use on the road.
Limitations:
Due to their size and weight, they cannot usually be disassembled for transport in a car and require suitable storage, such as a garage or shed.
